"CAN I GO TO BED NOW?" ~ Brooklyn

It's been one of those days.An early wake up call by the girls turned into a morning of playing and fun.
Then it ended.

Brooklyn and Alex went outside and the next thing I heard was Brooklyn crying. Notnormal crying. That 'my kid is hurt and your stomach drops' kinda crying. I go calmly (frantically put the baby down and rush) to the front door.

She just tells me her back hurts so I turn her around and lift up the back of her shirt.
There was a scratch but nothing that explained the crying. I put her shirt down and then it started...blood running down her neck. Alex started freaking out...which started Brooklyn freaking out...so of course, Riggs joined in.

UMMMM.....HELP!!!!!
(Scott was outside painting the garage)

Alex was sent outside to get Scott....mostly to remove her from the situation.I got a wash cloth to try to stop the bleeding. It was decided that she probably needed a trip to the ER.

We go right in and the nurse gets all the information and starts to explain that there will either be stitches or staples. Hearing this, Brooklyn really FREAKED. Huge eyes, hyperventilating. She was so scared.I finally got her calmed down by turning on the Hawkeye game. Such her Daddy's daughter!

The panic was back once the doctor came in. He was great. Because she was so scared, he opted to just glue it shut. Stitches would have probably been the better option but because it is hidden in her hair and the glue 'should' work....we went with the glue.

Brooklyn was so relieved that she seriously almost fell asleep while they worked on her cut.Now we just have to wake her up in the middle of the night to make sure
she does not have a concussion. My poor baby girl #1!

Scene of her accident...
She tripped over the rake and landed on her back hitting her head

Amazing how such a small cut had so much blood

Daddy makes it all better

My baby girl #2 didn't want to be outdone.
No ER trip required...but, there was blood. Alex tripped on the stairs putting this bowl away in their kitchen.

Scene of her accident...
she didn't even spill the food.

Two cuts on her lip
"mommy, can you see the blood?"

Doctor's order for Brooklyn was to take it easy for the rest of the day and tomorrow. So,we wrapped up projects early and decided to play a bunch of UNO before bed. We played 5 hands which got us to 7pm and Brooklyn asks, "Can I go to bed now?"

So, off to bed the injured girls go.

Riggs, you ask?
Well, no blood for him.
But, he went to bed with Tylenol and 102 fever.

3 for 3.
That has to be a record, right?

WORKING FOR A WEDDING

We got to help Aric finalize some of the wedding details.
There were a lot of late nights for my brother. Most mornings, I would come down and he would be under the dining room table sleeping...laptop still smoking from all he had been doing before finally passing out. But, that is typically how he functions.
'Go til you can't go no-moe'.
Aric giving incentive to keep working...Jess is a little bit of a drooler.

Andrew writing names on the place cards.

Jess and I getting the programs together.

Uncle Aric gave the girls a special task only for them...
putting stickers on the name cards.
Stickers and a special job...they could not have been more excited.

TIME WITH UNCLE GORGEOUS AND AUNT JESS

My brother Andrew and his wife...my sister, Jess spent a lot of time with the girls while we were in Delaware for Aric's wedding.
Andrew always says, 'Hello, Gorgeous' or 'Hello Beautiful' to the girls.
They love it.
They have dubbed him 'Uncle Gorgeous'.
Jess has a new fancy camera and was thoughtful enough to take a bunch of pictures of the kids and all the events of the week.
Thanks, Jess!

Uncle Gorgeous giving the guided tour of my parents backyard.
I'm sure lots of stories were told....some might have been true.

TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER

If you ever wonder why your kid might have done something...
start by asking their aunts and uncles.
They probably had something to do with it.
At least in my family!

WE ARE BACK.

We have returned from the East Coast
and celebrating my brother's wedding.
(pictures to come)
He is off in Hawaii and I am in....well, NOT Hawaii.
I'm thinking he won this round of location destination.

I'm in the middle (ok, to be honest...beginning) stages
of unpacking and re-organizing.
But, lucky for me I have a fantastic friend that offered up a quick and easy solution to get stuff
'taken care of'....

It is Open Burn season.
Unpacking not required.

Thanks, JenVen!
