LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS...

The girls brought home some of Grandma Yoder's daisies.
Brooklyn asked if we could add food coloring to the water
and see if the flowers would turn blue.
Sounds like an experiment to me!

Lets see what happens...

Step 1: Remove flowers from vase

Step 2: Add blue water

Step 3: Put flowers back in vase

Step 4: Learn about patience...me, not them.
"Is it happening?"..."How about now?"..."is it now?"...."now?"...

Finally..."blue tipped" daisies.
The picture doesn't really show it well
but they are blue.

HOW DID I GET HERE?

No, not me living here....
Riggs on his back.
Against the rules, I let him sleep on his stomach now that his neck is strong enough. When I went to check on him this morning,
this is how I found him...and he was very proud of himself!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDMA YODER

We celebrated another family birthday...
I helped the girls make a cake for Grandma Yoder.
She requested a chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream frosting. The girls thought it would be a fun surprise to make the frosting for the inside layers blue...her favorite color.

The next day we met at Godfather's Pizza for lunch...
a continuation of the celebration.

Of course there were games involved

VICTORY IS SWEET

If you remember, there was a bet that happened back in March.
That's right....the "March Madness" brackets.
The bet is the loser has to pay for the winner's ice cream at
Dairy Queen.
Notice who is paying.... :)

The Victor's Reward

Scott made sure to point out that he DID beat these two
(but, he still had to pay!)

A PERFECTLY WONDERFUL ORDINARY THING

Our 1st official walk of the summer
We have been on a couple walks around the track as a family (because that was all I was allowed...doctor's orders). But, last night it was so nice that we decided to take a "late night" stroll around the neighborhood...it was 8:30pm. There is just something to be said for the small seemingly mundane things in life that bond a family together.
These are the times I really want our kids to remember.
And, when Scott and I are too old to know what is going on anymore...
these are the times I want us to sit and reminisce about.

V.I.P.

Little Brother Riggs is Alex's
V.I.P
Alex is taking her big sister job very seriously. It doesn't take too much of a distress call from her little brother to send her running to his side.
And, he LOVES it.
Always lots of smiles and "talking" when big sis gets there.

OUR PERFECTIONIST

It's another summer of trying to learn how to ride without training wheels.
Brooklyn is such a perfectionist...
she wants everything to be exactly in the right spot before even trying to make the bike go.
And, not getting it perfect after the first try is VERY frustrating for her.
But, Scott is determined that THIS is the summer!

TENNIS ANYONE?

It is a Tuesday morning and guess what the girls get to do?
Play tennis...with Grandpa!
So exciting!
Brooklyn and Alex wanted to learn how to play tennis.
So, we got them rackets, balls...

And, a coach!

IT'S NOT TRUE, BUT...

...he still believes it!
I think it has something to do with milk.

WHO'S GONNA PUSH DADDY?

A MOMENT WITH MY "MIDGE"

Brooklyn was tired and wanted to rest. I casually told her to lay down on the couch until she was energized and ready to go
(this girl has not taken a nap in years).
With that sweet face and those huge soulful brown eyes of hers, she asked:
"Why is Riggs the only one that gets rocked to sleep?"
Needless to say...I stopped what I was doing and rocked her to sleep.
Literally.
Midge, thank you for giving me this moment!

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

FAMILY
Family means everything to me.
That is the one constant in my life.
We moved a lot with Dad in the Marine Corps....nothing was ever the same....except family!
My brothers and I all have names that come from someone in our extended families and I wanted to pass on that tradition with my kids.
Brooklyn ELIZABETH
My "Great-Grandma"
Elizabeth Swirn
(Elizabeth is also my mom's middle name)

Scott's "Grandma Ezby"
Hester Elizabeth

Alex(a) GRACE
My Great-Grandmother
Grace Adamson

Riggs DEON
Scott's Dad is Den (DE-N) and my Dad is Don (D-ON)

TIME WITH POP

What a special time!
Dad drove to Iowa to spend several days with us before heading down to Florida for the summer. Thanks for letting us keep him from you for a little longer, Mom!
We had (almost) 4 days with Pop...and the time always goes way too fast!
Thanks for coming, Dad!
The girls had a blast and Riggs finally met his Pop.
Scott and I enjoyed our time with you too!
Love you!

Special Princess Nightgowns from Pop and Grandma
...they even came with wands.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

IT'S FATHER'S DAY....and Scott, Brooklyn, Alex, Riggs and even myself were able to spend the day with our Dads!! That doesn't happen very often living away from my parents.
What a treat!
We hosted Scott's family for lunch and a little play time in the yard.

MY LITTLE GUY

It's happening.
I can feel it.
It is going way too fast.
My heart melts when he is so still yet pushing his head into my neck as if to ensure that I am not going to get away.
I love these snuggle with my little guy!
But, then I think about how fast this time is going to fly by when watching my 4 year old and almost 6 year old.
I have actually had to stop tears from forming.
Its not a sad thing.
Its just knowing that things don't stay the same...no matter how wonderful.

TACKLE-PUNCH

Brooklyn and Alex love playing "Tackle-Punch" with Scott. It is a "game" Brooklyn made up and basically involves "tackling" and "punching"...if you didn't catch that from the name.
But, there are rules involved....
OFFICIAL TACKLE-PUNCH RULES:

1. No hitting in the face

2. No kicking

3. No pulling on clothes

EVERYTHING ELSE IS FAIR GAME.
