Well, Mandy is all prepped and off to surgery. Got here at 5:30. The IV ONLY took 3 attempts. One unsuccessful try on the left arm made the nurse switch to the right arm. Missed on the first try, and then got it on her second and last attempt before she called for back up.
The doctors came in and briefed her. Dr. Wing will have about 15 minutes of work, and then Dr. Hodges will have about 2.5-3 hours of work. All in all, much less surgery time than the 7-8 hours we were told on Friday. Hopefully that is because they just didn't know what they were talking about and NOT that the doctor has a lunch reservation and needs to knock this out by noon.
Dr. Wing should be done with her part by 8:15 and will be coming out to update me on how her part went. Stay tuned.

THANK YOU
I must say....
I have the best family and friends ever!
Thank you for all the words of encouragement and prayer support going into this surgery. I'm starting to realize that I must have been in denial about all of this because at approximately 7:30pm, my stomach twisted in knots. I'm nervous. A lot of memories from the last hospital stay come to mind...the horrible IV issues, the uncertainty of everything, the pain....none of it fun! But the good news? I have given my life to Jesus and that gives me a sense of peace. He is in control. Of all of it. Of me, too. So how can anything go wrong when it is all according to His plan? It can't. That is the good news!
II Corinthians 12:9
But, he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
So, in my weakness...I am relying on God's strength to keep me focused on Him during the moments of uncertainty and pain that I may boast of Christ's power in seeing me through this last phase of what has been a difficult period of life.
Scott and I will be heading to the hospital for my 5:30am check in. Surgery is scheduled for 7:30am and will be approximately 7-8 hours. Scott has agreed to keep our family and friends up to date via the blog. As he gets updates from the medical team, he will post them on here. Hopefully this will all be very uneventful and quicker than expected.

COUNT DOWN TO MONDAY
After a 45 minute physical yesterday
AND
a 90 minute pre-op consultation,
blood work, electrolyte analysis, EKG and chest x-ray today, I should be good to go for surgery Monday.
The pre-op nurse finally shed some light on expected surgery time. With just one part of the procedure, she thought it would probably be 4-5 hours so with all the other stuff being done...she thought maybe 7-8 hours.
Please pray that both doctors sleep well Sunday night
and that I feel well rested when I wake up Tuesday :)

THE KICK OFF
SCOTT'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND....
WHICH JUST HAPPENS TO CORRELATE WITH MARCH MADNESS
He has 2 half days at work today and tomorrow and then the rest of the weekend to celebrate his birthday.
There will be lots of lasagna, ice cream cake and basketball.
Just the way he likes it....
PARTY AT "NO WA WA BEACH"
Now the girls can't say we didn't go anywhere 'cool' for spring break. The kids and I went to a beach party today...of all the days to leave home without the camera?!?!? There were swimsuits, lots of games, nail painting, a beach-themed lunch, a movie and friends.
Swimsuits in March and we don't live in Florida!
The only thing that could have made it better would have been having a flip-flop candle! (hehe)

SO, SCOTT WENT TO THE STORE AND CLEARED THE SHELVES BEFORE SHE GOT HERE!
He actually volunteered to go shopping for all of this. I told him the list was 3 pages long and would probably entail 2 shopping carts and he still went. How awesome is he?!
