I jinxed myself.
Really, that is all it comes down too.
See, I just got done telling...Grace, I think....that my kids don't throw up.
Riggs woke up crying several times before I actually went to sleep last night. He was getting a little stuffy so we figured he was just having a difficult time breathing. Scott turned on the humidifier and I rocked him back to sleep. Good night, baby...see you in the morning.
Well, at 4am, Alex comes down and declares she doesn't want to sleep anymore. Ummm...NOT in this house, sister. No kids until 6:45 at the earliest! That is a rule understood by the age of 6 months or there are time outs involved...just joking DHS!
After getting Alex back in bed, Riggs starts crying. Not a big deal, he is always easy to get back to sleep. Not this time, however. He just seemed uncomfortable and hot. So, I changed his diaper, gave him some Tylenol and a bottle.
As I was walking him back into his room, he started to wake up again. All of a sudden, there was a noise and I was ALL wet. The kid just threw up all over me. GROSS!!! And, what did this poor sick baby do? He laughed. It was the sweetest, most heart-hugging giggle I have ever heard. When I tell you, God gave us the 'most-bestest' baby we could dream up for ourselves...He did, except even better!
After changing mine and his jammies 4 (yes 4!) different times...he finally fell back to sleep.
Just in time for me to get back in bed for 10 minutes before Alex came down...at 6:45!
How is that for timing?
I love being the mom. Truly. Love it!
And for the record...Scott did help for the first round. Then I tried to let him sleep..he does have to function out in the world while I am lucky enough to hide in my house with my sick baby.
Ok, I was wondering why I didnt hear from you today...sorry to hear about the sickness!
ReplyDeleteBut man, that's one cute baby.
oh and I love that rule in your house...kind of wis I could teach it to my baby...I guess shes a little young...maybe Riggs can talk to her??
ReplyDeleteI am curious. How do you enfore the "rule"? :) :) And I am very sorry about the sick baby....he sure it a cutie though!!
ReplyDeleteOh poor baby! Hope your head is better. Was this before or after I ran into you at the Tour?
ReplyDeleteBecky, I will have my baby talk to your baby. The sooner they understand the better :)
ReplyDeleteAmy, they get sent straight back to bed. It was a battle of the wills at first. But, now they understand we mean business (the girls...Riggs always sleeps until at least 7am and takes naps) . We had to strictly enforce the 'rule' once they gave up naps. The day was just too long for them if they got up much before 7am. And, when the crying and meltdowns start in the late morning and don't end until bedtime...it makes for a long day for the mama! And, I'm not a fan!
Before I ran into you, Meghan. I think that is why I was so loopy when I saw you guys. I think my concussion was starting to set in :)
