HALF OF 'TEAM YODER' IS OUT

I had my CAT Scan results and surgical plan appointment with my 'surgeon doc' yesterday afternoon. And I've gotta say, hearing and feeling that my abdominal and pelvic area are way messed up is one thing but actually seeing it from the inside....well, that's a whole other. Yikes!

It confirmed that I do have a hernia. It also confirmed that my abdominal muscles at the top are extremely stretched and not speaking to each other anymore (apparent by the separate residencies they are living in at the moment) and the muscles at the bottom are not connected. So much not connected that there is just a black hole on the screen where muscle should show up. I was happy to see the destruction this little computer was displaying. I know that sounds slightly deranged but my huge fear was getting this done and then being told that everything looks fine. Although, if you look at me...it is pretty obvious that everything is NOT fine.

The doctor thinks it will take until the beginning of February to get approval from the insurance company. But, the good thing is that he is certain insurance will cover the procedures being done. Thank you, God! Scott is voting for a late March surgery so he can watch 'March Madness'...I mean attend to my every need during recovery. Ummm...yeah, something like that. So, we shall see???

Scott and I also had a long heart to heart talk last night about my post-op expectations. This July is the Yoder-Abblitt Marathon Battle in Portland, OR. My Dad, brothers, Scott, myself...possibly a cousin or two along with one of my friends from high school & her husband (who now lives in Seattle) are going to run a marathon for bragging rights. But, I'm sorry to say...I'm out. This will have to be the year of surgery and recovery for me.

Anyone in for Battle 2012?

  3. Mandy even if you didn't have to have surgery and you ran the marathon I would think you are nuts!! (But only because you JUST had a baby!)

And as a sidenote....think your guy would give a BOGO 1/2 off deal? I still need to get my pregnancy induced hernia fixed too. Nice...huh?
